DISCOVERY TRAIL

I am taking advantage of not beeing too busy in off-season to continue to discover new sites and share it with the new visitors to my website but also with my former clients who will recognize some of these places...

I recently visited this fantastic site which is just few miles from Utah beach and quite frankly, there is more to see than at la Pointe du Hoc (one regret is that they have filled up the bomb craters...)

Battery n°3

WN 83
FANTASTIC WWII DISCOVERY in
GRANDCAMP-MAISY !

A huge German gun battery which had been forgotten since over 60 years has just been partly cleared by an English man who has opened the site to the public in the summer of 2007
This battery as large as the one nearby at la Pointe du Hoc is intact and made of at least 8 buildings, a storage for munitions and about 20 smaller buildings.
It used to house 155 mm guns which could shoot as far as 13 km. Everything is connected by a maze of underground tunnels. In one of the bunkers there is still a metal bed and a heating stove !
There is still a lot to discover...
This site is called “ Perruques" WN83  and is located in Maisy.
